We are looking to buy a house in Juneau when we get up there. We are allowed 60 days lodging in the hotel while we secure permanent housing.
(Chiloe, my ticker should be working now…not sure why it wasn’t earlier.)
We only have 20 more days in our house here, with a total of 30 days left on island. Well, 29 technically since ur plane leaves at 9 am or something on July 3.
Anyway, we have been in contact with a realtor for the past few months and have really taken a good look at what is available in Juneau to try to decide what we really like and most importantly, what we can afford. Where we come from, you can get a nice, semi-newer construction home for $150K. That’s not how it is in Juneau. We are looking for a 3+ bedroom, 2 bath home with 1300+ sq ft…those are the things that we have to have. Our budget is $250-325K. That is all that we can afford without me having to go back to work. So, with that in mind, here are some houses that we really like…of course they probably won’t be available by the time that we get up there.
House one – This one is nice, the kitchen is dinky and is possibly the downfall of the house for us.
House two – This one has been on the market for a while, maybe the sellers will be motivated…?
House three -This house is enormous…6 bedrooms! Needs work outside, landscaping, etc. And the blue countertops aren’t my thing.
House four – This one and the next are my favorites. I love the pic of the little boy outside with the crabs!! Holy giant crabs, batman! This was just reduced in price and is now in our range.
House five – I really like love this house. But what is up with the blue carpet? If you have to put carpet in a house like this, why not go with a nice oatmeal berber or something? Flooring would be priority #1 here.
Then there is this one…it is gorgeous, but it would be a definite stretch, budget wise. Unless they came down in price a bit.
So, there you go. That is this week’s housing summary. I will try to do another one next week.
Peace.
Yay! I am almost done with sock #1 of the pair. And it fits! I love this pattern and I love the yarn.

Yarn: BMFA’s Socks that Rock mediumweight in Sherbet
Needles: US size 3
Nail polish: OPI’s Dutch Tulips (my absolute fav. color for summer)

Thank you for your reassuring words about book 7, I really appreciate them! I do notice a big change in the way that the story is being told in book 6 vs. books 1-5. It is like all of a sudden grown-up-ness on Harry’s part.

Oooh, I forgot to tell you…I found a new fiber festival to go to while we are at home next month!! The Midwest Fiber and Folk Festival. I am so excited! DH is even planning on going with me this time I think. I thought about taking a class, but then decided that I would rather spend that $ on yarn potentially. Especially since I am knitting way more now than I was when I went to the last one with MIL & Conn.
Peace.
