I finished up the baby sweater that I had been working on and it has been received by its recipient…my BFF’s baby boy. So, I can show the finished picture…
I will say it again, I love this pattern. This is my first time doing stripes and winging it and it is okay…I have more to learn about doing stripes though. The specifications are here. The colors I used are Planetarium, Honeydew, Fedora, Creme Brulee, Cypress, Cashew.
The other baby knit that I did recently was for a baby shower that I went to this past weekend.
I made this…
Turn into this…
It is the baby kimono pattern from the Mason Dixon knitting book. I used a big old cone of kitchen cotton (no, not all of it) and size 7 needles. It calls for 6′s, but I like it a little more loose.
Peace.
I was recently given a gift card to a local Spa…such a sweet gift. Especailly since I don’t take the time to do those kinds of things for myself. I decided that I was long overdue for a hair cut. Actually a whacking.
I went from this…

Minus this…

To look like this…

To which Seamus says, “Listen, I know you love the new ‘do. But seriously, it is freezing out here by the Glacier. I didn’t sign up for this.”
I cut my hair on Feb 27. My Mom’s birthday was Feb 26. She would have been 52. Naturally she has been on my mind, so I donated my ponytail to Locks of Love in her memory.
And this week I turned 32, so I needed a little pick-me-up.
Peace.
Ever take a ton of pictures and then not upload them for so long that you forget what is on there? Yeah, me too. So this post will be a little recap of the past moth.
And thank you everyone, for the incredibly sweet comments about the newest baby tree hugger. xoxo
Monday and Tuesday before Seamus was born found me doing an insane amount of baking. Jim gave his coworkers each a tin of treats…I made 16 of these in total.
The Wednesday before Seamus was born, we had a little family holiday card photo shoot. I was tardy in getting the cards out this year, I was addressing them the night before I went into labor and Jim finished addressing them the day after Seamus was born.
We welcomed this handsome guy on a Friday.
And celebrated Christmas the following week. I just love this picture.
On Christmas Day, the washing machine decided to die. Not good news for this cloth diapering Mama of two. We got a new set and someone loved the boxes that became his “house”. He didn’t like it when Mama coerced the dog to go in the “house”, she stayed for about 30 seconds and promptly jumped out the widow.
We celebrated Connor’s second birthday while Grandma & Grandpa were visiting. Mmm, cupcakes!
And woke up to freakishly warm weather while the lower 48 were freezing. Seriously, it was 51 degrees the day I took this picture. 51 degrees in Juneau, Alaska in January. Who would have thought?
There has been knitting…
Pattern: Cherry Garcia by Hello Yarn
Yarn: Malabrigo Chunky in Olive
Needles: 10.5
This was given to my Step-Mom as they were on their way out the door on the way back to Chicago at ugly:30 AM. Hence, the cruddy picture. Go look at the one on the pattern, it is better.
Pattern: Baby Pullover #214 by Knitting Pure and Simple
Yarn: Arucania Patagonia Nature Cotton, color 201
Needles: 6 & 8
Can’t beat a raglan pattern. Love the color variation of the yarn, but hate the not so stretchy-ess of the cotton.
On one last note…I am so proud of our country…this week marks a new begining. Mr. President, I am behind you 100%.
Peace.

Introducing… Seamus Calvin (Seamus is pronounced “Shay-mus”). Seamus was born on Friday, December 19.
I knew that I wouldn’t make it until January 6, but I didn’t think that we would have a baby before Christmas!
It was a very fast and intense labor and delivery that went just as I had wanted. I labored at home for as long as possible, then we went to the birthing center. We arrived around noon and I immediately got into the birthing tub. I was 8 cm dilated when we arrived.
He was born into the water just over an hour later. I was guided by DH and the Midwives and it was a much more peaceful process than when Connor was born. The entire labor and delivery was completely natural and a wonderful experience.
We came home a few hours later. You don’t stay at the birthing center overnight. Our Midwife has come to the house to see us already and we are settling in.
I know that I said I would be around a little more, and I am going to try…but I think that I might be a little preoccupied for a bit. I am sure you understand : )
Peace.
